While I'll give Dr. Baylis credit for avoiding the kind of alarmism often associated with discussions of genetically altering human beings and human embryos, I found this book a bit shallow. It's not bad, but it's just not especially insightful.For more on the science of CRISPR and other forms of synthetic biology, I'd recommend George Church's book, Regenesis. For more on the ethics of genetically altering people, which is the main subject of Altered Inheritance, I'd recommend Allen Buchanan's Beyond Humanity and Jonathan Anomaly's Creating Future People.
